Mystic, Conn. (June 27, 2017) –After nearly four months of rehabilitation in Mystic Aquarium’s Animal Rescue Clinic, Clover, a female Gray seal, was released at Blue Shutters Beach in Charlestown, RI this morning. Found stranded at Overlook Beach in Babylon, NY, Clover arrived at Mystic Aquarium on March 3. Believed to be 1-2 months old at the time of rescue, she weighed in at just under 40lbs.

During her stay in the rescue clinic, Clover was treated for malnutrition as well as a variety of wounds. Following months of dedicated medical care, a fully-recovered and hardy 60lb. Clover, took her time heading into the surf.

Mystic Aquarium’s animal rescue clinic is nearly filled to capacity. A team of animal care professionals and volunteers are providing specialized and compassionate care to 14 Harbor seal pups, one 4-5month old gray seal and one yearling Harp seal.

On July 28, Mystic Aquarium is hosting a 21+ fundraiser from 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm in support of the Animal Rescue Clinic. The annual ‘Seals on the Rocks’ promises an evening of fun, food and live entertainment. To learn more visit MysticAquarium.org
