Summer Camps 2022

With health and safety as our number one priority, we are happy to confirm that we are offering an expanded array of unique and memorable camp experiences for children entering grades PreK-10, as well as family programs for an adult/child pair, this summer!

Mystic Aquarium offers the perfect environment to enjoy and explore animals while having outdoor adventures in nature. In addition, each camp will have its own dedicated classroom within the Milne Ocean Science and Conservation Center, which is separated from the general public, to continue learning and exploration. This year we are happy to announce the return of our popular partner camps with the Mystic Seaport and Project Oceanology.

In accordance with the State of Connecticut requirements for youth camps, Mystic Aquarium has established stringent guidelines to ensure camper and educator safety for this summer.

Camper and Educator Health & Safety

In accordance with the State of Connecticut requirements for youth camps, Mystic Aquarium has established the following guidelines to ensure camper and instructor safety for this summer:

  • Most camps will have a maximum of 18 campers with dedicated instructors. Our PreK camps will have a maximum of 16 campers with dedicated instructors.
  • Each camp will be completely independent and will not mix with other camp groups.
  • The process for admitting campers during the Covid era changes continually. Caregivers will be notified of any changes to our procedures as they occur. At this time, each morning all staff and children will be screened for any observable illness, including cough or respiratory distress, and to confirm temperature below 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Staff or children who have a temperature greater than 100 degrees will not be permitted into the program.
  • If a camper develops any symptoms during the camp day, they will be moved immediately to a dedicated area to await pick up.
  • Face covering requirements continue to change. Caregivers will be notified of any changes that may affect their camper.   Staff will wear face coverings while working with campers when indoors and may remove them when they are outdoors and can maintain social distancing. Campers are required to wear face coverings when they are indoors but may remove them when they are outdoors and can maintain social distancing. Exceptions will be made for anyone with documentation that wearing a face covering would be contrary to his or her health or safety because of a medical condition.
  • Staff will teach and enforce good hand and respiratory hygiene and social distancing.
  • Increased vigilance will be given to our already thorough cleaning and disinfecting procedures.
  • Camps will take advantage of a wealth of outdoor exhibits and natural areas that exist in and directly around the Aquarium. Full day camps will also take a field trip to a local estuary.
