To ensure the safety of our guests and staff, Mystic Aquarium may close due to inclement weather and Northern Lights for the affected date will be cancelled. Tickets will be transferable to a future date of the guests choice, blackout dates may apply.

For those guests already holding an advance ticket for a night where the aquarium may need to close due to inclement weather, an email will be sent notifying affected ticket holders with further instructions.
If you are late to you ticket entry time, you will still be admitted entry upon your arrival if max capacity as deemed by CT State fire code has not been reached. Tickets are only available for the same night they were purchased for, but if you need to change dates, please contact our admissions office at 860-572-5955 x222.

We expect the event to take about an hour and a half to complete including the walk through our outdoor pathways, visits and pictures with the characters, and to enjoy light refreshments and beverages available to purchase. Guests are welcome to walk the trail as many times as they would like.
Guests or members who have visited the Aquarium during the day will be permitted to stay on grounds until 5:00 p.m. They would then need to leave campus and return with the correct date and time ticket for when Northern Lights opens for the evening. Northern Lights tickets do not allow for access to the Aquarium during our usual daytime operating hours.
Parking is always free to Mystic Aquarium. Should you find our parking lot is approaching capacity, please check the Olde Mistick Village parking lot to our west just across Clara Drive for additional spaces.
While outdoor habitats will be open during the evening as part of the Northern Lights festivities, please remember that animals need rest too! And, like “Twas the Night before Christmas” not a creature may be stirring!
Strollers will be permitted during the event. Please be aware that some of our outdoor paths have inclines, curves, narrow sections and dimmed lighting.
A limited number of manual wheelchairs are available to be checked out on a first come, first served basis (in exchange for a valid photo ID). We do not have scooters or strollers available for rent.

Yes, the gift shop will be open for Northern Lights events in December only. It will NOT be open for the January dates.
For the health and safety of our animals, flashlights or laser pointers are not permitted. Flash photography is permitted at most of our exhibits and you are welcome to take photos or video of the experience for non-commercial use.
Northern Lights at Mystic Aquarium will take guests on a journey through a unique experience that will showcase the colors, sounds, and animals of the Arctic. This is a simulation only. A collection of multi-colored, professionally crafted and environmentally friendly lighting will be installed throughout the outdoor exhibits. This nighttime winter experience will allow guests to see the Aquarium and its outdoor animals in a different light and will create a new and memorable winter tradition to come back to each year with friends and family.
