If spending a week learning about shark conservation sounds like the perfect way to spend your summer, then Aqua Camp is the program for you! Together we’ll learn from Aquarium staff who work with these amazing animals every day as well as shark researchers and conservationists on dispelling the myths about sharks and learning what we can all do to protect them. Did we mention you even get to spend the night at the Aquarium? Just imagine having the place all to yourself and the other campers! Participants will tour behind the scenes areas, interact with Aquarium staff, investigate Bluff Point State Park and, weather permitting, spend some time on the water. Mystic Aquarium will provide dinner and breakfast for the campers for their overnight adventure. There is no Aqua Camp held on Thursday and Friday. Extended day is not available for this camp.

Mystic Aquarium and Project Oceanology have teamed up again to create the perfect camp! In this weeklong program, campers will participate in research cruises for three days with Project Oceanology to discover life in and around Long Island Sound. Then they will spend two days at Mystic Aquarium exploring the work being done to protect African penguins, investigate how whale snot can help with the beluga whale conservation and learn about the efforts to protect horseshoe crabs. Spending time on the water, participating in experiments, meeting with expert scientists and even heading behind the scenes, campers will learn about the many conservation opportunities that await them. Camp is held at Project Oceanology on Monday through Wednesday and Mystic Aquarium on Thursday and Friday. Extended Day is not available for this camp.

Teens love marine biology and yearn to know what it’s like to be a scientist. Join New England Science & Sailing (NESS) and Mystic Aquarium for this exciting program that allows for a unique experience in the best aspects of a career in marine biology. Participants will start their day at NESS exploring Little Narragansett Bay by kayak, snorkel, foot and boat where they will perform field research before heading over to Mystic Aquarium where campers will focus on conservation, animal behavior and conservation genetics. This program is designed to give teens a real taste of what it’s like to be a marine biologist. Campers will check in each day at NESS and will be picked up at Mystic Aquarium. Campers and staff will be transported via SEAT bus each day. All registration will be through New England Science and Sailing (NESS).
