Webinar: Tiny Fish Play a Big Role in the Ocean Ecosystem

July 21 @ 2:00 pm - 2:30 pm

forage fish

Small fish play a big role in our ocean ecosystems – and we should protect them accordingly! Tiny fish species, known as forage fish, serve as prey for larger fish, marine mammals and seabirds. Unfortunately, not all forage fish are managed with their ecological role in mind. This webinar will explore the relationship between forage fish, fish predators and seabirds, the federal legislation and regional fisheries councils that manage fish, and how you can help these little, but hugely important fish.

Join us Tuesday, July 21 to learn more about what we can do to help forage fish and seabirds. The webinar will be streamed via Zoom and Facebook Live. Speakers include:

  • Peter Auster, Senior Research Scientist, Mystic Aquarium
  • Don Lyons, Director of Conservation Science for Seabird Restoration Program, National Audubon Society
  • Anna Weinstein, Director of Marine Conservation, National Audubon Society
  • Charlotte Runzel, Coastal Policy Analyst, National Audubon Society
  • Maddox Wolfe, Coastal Campaigns Manager, National Audubon Society
