December 3 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Conservation in Action Website Image

Horseshoe crabs have roamed the coasts for 300 million years and have served a critical role in the marine ecosystem as well as in biomedical research. Join us and Norman Wainwright, Ph. D., Senior Director of Research & Development at Charles River Laboratory and Mystic Aquarium Scientist in Residence, as we explore the wonder of this living fossil. Learn about their contribution to research as well as their ecological and economical importance. Discover threats to their populations and learn how scientists at Charles River Laboratory are contributing to the conservation of the species. Find out how you can join Mystic Aquarium in its efforts to monitor horseshoe crabs in our region, and our aquaculture efforts to enhance our local population. Guests will also have the opportunity to see this species up-close at a special table exhibit featuring juvenile horseshoe crabs.
