What is Conservation for All?
Our Conservation for All virtual programming is part of our Ocean Ambassadors program which provides you with easy and fun ways to become an active conservationist. Each week we break down different ways you can feel good and do good from the comfort of your home or while you’re out exploring nature. We’ll provide you with the raw resources and knowledge to participate from home all while highlighting our mission and engaging you in our Ocean Ambassadors activities.
Each week’s theme features a Facebook LIVE at 11am as part of Monday Mornings with MaryEllen, a five-minute follow-up video on YouTube and an “Ocean Ambassadors Conservation Challenge.”
As Mystic Aquarium’s Director of Education & Conservation, she is one of the institution’s leading voices for matters relevant to conservation, and is responsible for managing conservation messaging and environmental initiatives on-site at Mystic Aquarium as well as with public visitors of all ages. MaryEllen has had the unique opportunity to bring marine science, environmental conservation and STEM topics directly to individuals of all ages and backgrounds. With a particular passion for developing unique ways to engage the public in environmental stewardship, she works closely with volunteers, students and interns in habitat restoration, citizen science efforts, marine removal events and nature club initiatives.
MaryEllen can often be found counting and tagging horseshoe crabs at midnight, trekking through a marsh to monitor local amphibian populations as part of the FrogWatch USA program or leading cleanup programs along local shorelines to collect data on marine debris.
