WHO: Mystic Aquarium and Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles
WHAT: Put a penguin on your car! Just about everyone has a fond memory of Mystic Aquarium, the largest cultural attraction in Connecticut. More than fondness, Mystic Aquarium’s mission of conservation, education and research has been inspiring millions of people to care for and protect the ocean environment.
Now, through a partnership with the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles, a specialty license plate has been designed to help bring recognition to the local icon and their important mission of ocean conservation. Featuring an African penguin and the powerful “Protect our Oceans” slogan, the new plates have a unique look that is truly eye catching and includes a meaningful message as well.
“This is a very important way to celebrate your fondness for Mystic Aquarium and passion for the ocean environment,” said Roz Gilhuly, Senior Vice President of External Affairs at Mystic Aquarium. “We need 400 people to sign up in order to make this dream a reality,” she added.
Registrants can use their existing plate number, including vanity or special number plates, or be assigned a random number for $65. A new vanity or special number plate is $134.
