Mystic Aquarium will release a male gray seal back into the waters of Blue Shutters Beach in Charlestown, R.I., on July 7 at 8 a.m.* The seal was rescued on April 8 at Matunuck State Beach by Mystic Aquarium’s Animal Rescue Team. Upon admittance to the Seal Rescue Clinic, he had a wound on his rear flipper with exposed bone. During his time in the clinic, he has been treated with antibiotics and salt water baths for his wound and recovered well.
*Please note that marine animal release dates and times can change at the last minute, given the variables of medical health and release readiness, weather and a variety of other factors. Mystic Aquarium will do its best to provide advance information if a change in a release schedule is anticipated. We ask for your patience in cases where such advance notification is impossible. Thank you for your support and understanding. Please check this page on July 6 for any updates.
