In this hands-on workshop, you will travel to the Mid-Atlantic Ridge—down to a depth of about 2,000 feet (610 meters)—to explore the unique “Lost City” hydrothermal vents and search for clues to life’s origins among its microscopic inhabitants. Science topics covered include hydrothermal vents, plate tectonics, minerals, chemical reactions, pH, biodiversity, extremophiles, buoyancy, remotely operated vehicles, communication technology and careers.
