Join us at Mystic Aquarium for a “Celebration of Latinos and Science” on Sunday, June 12 from 11 a.m. to Festivities will include live music, Hispanic cuisine and other activities showcasing some of the talented Latinos in our community who work in the field of science and the many exciting careers available to science enthusiasts.

Come explore the Aquarium’s Hidden Amazon exhibit featuring interesting animals such as electric eels, poison dart frogs and piranhas. Extract DNA from fruit or learn how shape effects fish with scientists from the Connecticut Science Center. Learn about solar panels or how to create your own butterfly garden at home to help Monarch butterflies. Activities are included with aquarium admission.

The “Celebration of Latinos and Science” is a collaboration between Mystic Aquarium and the Connecticut Science Center, with the support of the Connecticut Commission on Culture & Tourism. On Saturday, June 4, 2011 the Connecticut Science Center will host their “Celebration” event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. During both events, representatives from the Connecticut Science Center will provide fun science demos, and Mystic Aquarium will bring live animals and artifacts. We hope that this event will not only bridge New London and Hartford Counties, but also connect the physical and natural sciences giving everyone a wide range of exposure to these fields.
