Seal Splash 2017

Make a Splash for Mystic Aquarium’s Animal Rescue Program

One of the most rewarding sounds for staff and volunteers in the Animal Rescue Program is a SPLASH! From the first splash of a healing harbor seal entering the med pool to the animal’s ultimate dive into the ocean on release day — to us, a splash means SUCCESS.

You too can make a splash by helping Mystic Aquarium’s Animal Rescue Team succeed in our mission!

Mystic Aquarium’s Animal Rescue Team acts as first responders for animals in need along the 1,000 miles of coastline throughout Conn., R.I. and Fishers Island, NY. Our team of staff and volunteers provide specialized and compassionate care for the rehabilitation of stranded and injured animals with the ultimate goal of releasing them back into their natural habitat.

The work we do always strives to undertake a great conservation effort. Through research done at the aquarium and in the field, we hope to better understand the animals that make -up the ocean environment , and by directly impacting individuals within that environment to benefit the overall population, like we’re doing with our rescue and rehabilitation efforts. -Janelle Schuh, Stranding Coordinator

Mystic Aquarium’s Animal Rescue Program has been rehabilitating marine mammals since 1975. To date the Aquarium has responded to more than 1,500 stranded seals, whales, dolphins, porpoises, sea turtles and even a manatee.

Enjoy the “coolest” event of the year and raise money for a good cause!
