Instructions for Internship Applicants |
Carefully review all of the Internship Requirements and Instructions
Complete the Internship Application. Be sure to provide us with the best e-mail and phone number for contacting you.
Select a First and Second choice internship. (For the Spring and Fall semesters a Third choice may be selected). See list of possible opportunities e.g., 1st choice: Fish & Invertebrate Husbandry, 2nd choice: Pinniped/Penguin Husbandry.
Submit the following application materials:
Cover letter. Tell us about yourself, your interests and career goals.
Résumé
College transcripts (unofficial transcripts are acceptable)
Recent essay or sample of your writing ability on a topic of your choice. 2 page minimum

Application packets must arrive by the deadline.
Spring semester (Jan – May ) October 31
Summer semester (Jun – Aug) February 28
Fall semester (Sept – Dec) June 30
Please note: all applications will be distributed to the department supervisors for review immediately after the deadline date. Late applications will not be accepted. Early applications are appreciated but do not guarantee acceptance.
Soon after the application deadline date you will receive an e-mail confirmation that your materials were received. Please do not call prior to the deadline.
An Aquarium staff member may contact you to set up an interview time. Most interviews are by phone
If you are not selected for your first choice your materials will be forwarded to the department of your second choice. In some cases, a second interview will be conducted.
You will receive a final correspondence regarding your status within one month of the deadline date.
All interns will receive an orientation with the Human Resources Department before beginning their internship.
