Groton and Baltic Students Named Winners of Second Annual Scrap Art Sculpture Contest

MYSTIC, Conn. – In March and April, Mystic Aquarium encouraged community members to turn their recyclables into artistic treasures for its second annual Scrap Art Sculpture Contest. Among the many creative, marine-themed pieces submitted, two entries stood out – “Baby Eco”, created by Chance Gaudreau, 10, of Baltic, and “Garbatee the Manatee,” created by Seth Glickman, 9, of Groton.

Immersion Learning Brings Marine Mammals of the Arctic to Audiences Across the Country Live Via Webcast

Travel to the Oceans' Depths with Famed Oceanographer Dr. Robert Ballard on May 14

MYSTIC, Conn. – Explore the oceans, the last great uncharted territory, with the man who discovered the R.M.S. Titanic, National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence and Institute for Exploration President Dr. Robert Ballard. The event, on May 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Garde Arts Center, is part of the new “Faces of Our Planet” series, created by Sea Research Foundation, National Geographic Live and the Garde Arts Center to reveal the mysteries and discoveries of the world’s human, animal and geographic faces.

Sea Research Foundation Receives $12,500 Grant from Dominion Resources

MYSTIC, Conn. - In celebration of Earth Day, Dominion Resources presented Sea Research Foundation – parent organization of Mystic Aquarium, Institute for Exploration and Immersion Learning – with a $12,500 Earth Day environmental grant on April 22.
