Stingray Bay Reopens

Mystic Aquarium’s 35,000-gallon Stingray Bay reopened on Feb. 7 after closing on Jan. 2 for a life support system upgrade and décor enhancement. The habitat improvement project included nine tons of material, took more than 500 man hours and was completely executed in-house. Stingray Bay’s new lighting will reduce its wattage output by 70 percent.

Kids Invited to Create Posters for "Wrecks of the World" International Art Contest

With 2012 marking the centenary of Titanic's maiden voyage and sinking, students in grades K-12 are invited to participate in the “Wrecks of the World” international art contest sponsored by The JASON Project and its Immersion Learning program, the North American Marine Environmental Protection Association (NAMEPA) and the U.S Coast Guard.

African Penguins Spread the Love for Valentine's Day

As the ultimate tribute to Valentine’s Day, Mystic Aquarium African penguins have created 50 original paintings to benefit the aquarium’s penguin conservation efforts. These paintings ($169.99) are available for purchase in the Aquarium Store and online.

Watch Our African Penguins on Live Webcam

Mystic Aquarium’s African penguin webcam is back. For the fourth year, people worldwide can watch five African penguin pairs nest until March, and once chicks are hatched, you can watch them grow into full fledgling penguins.
