Sea School Still Accepting Students for Fall Quarter Print E-mail

Mystic Aquarium’s Sea School, the nation’s first and only aquarium-based licensed preschool program, is still accepting students for the fall quarter. Sea School is for children ages 3 to 5 and classes run Monday, September 12 through Thursday, November 10.

Classes are two times per week and parents have their choice of three-hour morning classes (aquarium members $525; non-members $575) or two-hour afternoon classes (aquarium members $375; non-members $425):

Monday and Wednesday Mornings: 9 a.m. – noon
Tuesday and Thursday Mornings: 9 a.m. – noon

Monday and Wednesday Afternoons: 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Tuesday and Thursday Afternoons: 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Sea School's unique hands-on curriculum aims to instill a love of learning that each student will carry with them long after their preschool years. Each child is introduced to all areas of development with activities that focus on math, language and literacy, science, and cognitive development.

Sea School programming serves as a first taste of what school will be like, but is also a great enrichment program for youngsters already enrolled in a preschool. What better place to have children explore their natural curiosity than at an aquarium where live ocean creatures are living all around them? Students get to know various ocean animals, the people who work with them, as well as learn about the science that goes into exploring the sea. Students also have access to the aquarium’s Sea School Green, a new outdoor learning space designed for preschool aged learners. From gardening and composting to examining insects, Sea Schoolers continue learning in the great outdoors.

Mystic Aquarium offers educational opportunities year-round for students of all ages and creates a meaningful appreciation for nature through an aquarium setting. In addition to Sea School, the aquarium offers summer camps, conservation and educational programs, and an accredited college course, Seminar on Marine Mammals, for University of Rhode Island and University of Connecticut students. Additionally, Sea Research Foundation, Mystic Aquarium’s parent company, connects students around the world with scientists and researchers through The JASON Project and Immersion Learning.
