Human Resources Internship Job Description
The Sea Research Foundation seeks an unpaid intern to assist the Human Resources department in day-to-day activities. An ideal intern would be available to work a minimum of 15 hours a week, Monday-Friday during normal business hours. Specific scheduling is flexible. Reports directly to Director of Human Resources.
This internship will give the intern valuable, real-world experience, as well as providing the Human Resources team with additional support. Well-suited candidates should have an interest in human resources. Students must be currently enrolled or recent graduates, and plan to pursue a career in a related field.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with new hire orientations
- Assist with recruiting and staffing
- Track cost and effectiveness of media outlets for job postings
- Post new positions on various websites
- Sort incoming resumes and log them into appropriate tracking spreadsheets
- Complete and mail out offer and regret letters
- Coordinate candidate interviews
- Process background checks and save results when they are returned
- Prepare new hire packets
- Perform miscellaneous office duties (filing, making copies, etc.)
- Assist with miscellaneous special projects as needed
- Abide by all Sea Research Foundation policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
- Maintain a satisfied level of customer service with clients both internal and external
- Properly handle client requests through responsiveness, follow-up, and escalation
- Work proactively with other team members
- Prioritize activities for the best interest of the team when working on joint projects
- Handle client requests and deliver quality solutions if able, or escalate the request to a more senior team member
- Openly share new ideas and information with other team members
- Keep other team members apprised to avoid surprises and disappointed clients
