Return to Titanic - Professional Development Workshop

Choose the date that works best for you!
Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 10:00am-3:00pm at Mystic Aquarium (Classroom A) or
Friday, June 8, 2012 from 10:00am-3:00pm at Mystic Aquarium (Kitchings Classroom)
Cost:$35.00 - Fee includes a working lunch and a Return to Titanic multimedia educator pack.

This workshop will prepare educators to implement Immersion Learning's Return to Titanic program into their classroom curriculum.  In the Return to Titanic program participants join Dr. Robert Ballard and a team of scientists as they return to the wreck of the RMS Titanic to determine how much the ship has deteriorated since its initial discovery in 1985. Hands-on activities will cover STEM topics such as scale drawings, buoyancy, model-building, weathering, photomosaics, remotely operated vehicles, latitude and longitude, coordinate grids, communication technology, radio waves, conservation, and careers. Additional online activities, video clips, and interactive games enrich the program.

Following the workshop, participants will have an opportunity to tour the new Titanic - 12,450 Feet Below exhibit at Mystic Aquarium!

Free Educator Opportunities

GET WET in Connecticut
Monday, August 13th 10:00am-3:00pm
Tuesday, August 14th 10:00am-3:00pm
Wednesday, August 15th 10:00am-3:00pm
Cost: No Charge ($300 program supply or field trip stipend available upon completion of program)

This three day workshop funded by NOAA will give educators all the tools needed to design and implement Meaningful Watershed Educational Experiences for your students that go beyond a onetime field trip. Through a combination of discussions, hands-on activities, and interactive programs at the beach; participants will be leave this program comfortable with watershed and estuary science and have the resources to bring it into the classroom. Seminar on Marine Mammals

September - December 2012 Weekly evening seminar
Enhance your knowledge of marine mammals.  In this weekly seminar, visiting scientists will discuss the natural history, evolution, anatomy, physiology, husbandry, cognition, behavior and conservation of these magnificent creatures.  Our expert speakers offer a wealth of knowledge you won’t find anywhere else!  Registration closes August, 30, 2012.
