Family Conservation Series Events
2014 Spring and Summer Programming
Did you know that in just 10 minutes a week, you can help scientists collect valuable information on local amphibian populations? Following this three-hour workshop, participants will become certified FrogWatch volunteers trained in local amphibian vocalizations and ready to take charge of your own field site to collect data to submit into a national database.

Leap into action and attend our free family, friendly amphibian monitoring training! Through the use of interactive activities, families will learn to identify local amphibians by both sight and sound. You will even have the chance to test your new skills in the field.
LONG ISLAND SOUND DAY
Celebrate our local estuary in style! With the help of generous funding from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, you and your family can enjoy hands-on activities, create a craft and speak with visiting environmental organizations or attend a special program – and together learn more about our precious Long Island Sound. Activities are included with aquarium admission. Registration is not required
** Club members should stop by the club table to participate in a special members-only eco-friendly craft and pick up your Long Island Sound Day patch.
HORSESHOE CRAB WALK
Head to the beach and witness these "living fossils" gather during our annual Family horseshoe crab walks. You can also help aquarium staff count these animals and learn about the role they play in our local ecosystem. Be prepared to get your feet wet and hike a distance.
Cost: $5 per person
