Birds of the Outback

This amazing interactive exhibit opens May 18 and is the only one of its kind in New England.

The enclosed 1,200-square-foot aviary houses hundreds of colorful cockatiels, parakeets and rosellas, all native to Australia. With the $3 exhibit entry fee (plus aquarium admission), guests receive a millet seed stick for feeding the birds. Additional millet seed sticks can be purchased for $1 each.

Once inside the exhibit, where the friendly birds sing and fly freely, simply hold the stick in the air and watch them swoop down to perch on your arm and eat right out of your hands! You'll also learn about the birds’ habitat and behaviors, as well as the issues and challenges currently facing birds in the wild.
