Can my child participate?

Children participating in the Beluga Encounter Program who are under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a paying parent or guardian. All participants must be at least five feet tall with no physical limitations. To participate in the Penguin Encounter Program, children must be at least 6 years old and accompanied by a participating adult if under age 12.

Can I purchase an encounter program as a gift?

To purchase a gift certificate, call (860) 572-5955 ext.520. We will ask your name, address and phone number and the name and information of the recipient. Payment is required at this time. We will send you a gift certificate that you can present to the recipient, or we can send it directly to him or her. The recipient can then call us at their convenience and make a reservation for a specific date.

What should I wear?

During the Beluga Encounter Program, you will wear waders we provide while in the water. We suggest long pants and socks to wear under these. You will be outside during the wading portion of the program, so dress appropriately for the weather. Bring a change of clothes in case you get wet. Jewelry or personal items are not allowed in the water; a locker is available in the encounter room if you need to securely store your valuables during your encounter program.

Penguin Encounter participants won’t get wet but may get dirty. A change of clothes is recommended. Protective overalls are available upon request. Avoid wearing open-toe shoes, and leave jewelry, sunglasses or personal items behind. There is no locker available for the penguin encounters.

Can I take pictures during the Beluga Encounter?

If another person accompanies you, that person may take still or video pictures from the exhibit's public area while you are in the water. Professional photographers will be on hand to take pictures and you will receive two copies of one photograph, which is included in the Beluga Encounter price. Additional photographs may be purchased.

Can I cancel if necessary?

You may cancel 48 hours in advance and receive a full refund, or you may reschedule. These are rain or shine programs.
