JOB SUMMARY: Demonstrate excellent representation of the aquarium at all times through a positive, can-do attitude and teamwork focused work ethic. Aquarists are responsible for maintaining facility standards and expectations for the appearance and upkeep of assigned exhibits, associated life support systems, and the care of assigned animals. This position will be assigned to specific areas within the aquarium and can also be called upon for other areas. While the Aquarist has a primary focus on fish and invertebrates, the expectation is to have the knowledge to back up or support the reptile and amphibian collection as needed.
Minimum Job Requirements: Must be willing to consistently provide guest service above and beyond expectation. Bachelor's degree in related discipline and 2 years’ experience in fish and invertebrates husbandry, preferably in an aquarium setting. Experience with additional animal taxa including reptiles and amphibians is a plus. Knowledge and skills with minor carpentry, plumbing, and painting is desired. The successful applicant must have the strength and endurance to perform physical demands associated with essential job functions; with or without assistance. SCUBA certification is required. Must possess a high-energy work ethic and a positive attitude.
